This lovely old home in Milton has an interesting partially enclosed section that provides a pleasant windbreak for the verandah space.

  1. How interesting! A happy compromise between outdoors and in 🙂 It looks like a great place to sit and read a good book!

  2. Verandahs were a part of my life growing up. In the nice (or rain) weather everyone sat on their verandahs and chatted with the neighbours as they passed by. In some of the new subdivisions they are making a come back.

  3. Oh, that is SUCH a charming house! I love the verandah, and had the same thought Toby did about it being a great place to sit and read a good book! The other details of the home are delightful too – the green shutters, the gingerbread, the details over the windows – so pretty, without being gaudy. I’d love to see the inside!

  4. This is really beautiful. Thanks for posting!

  5. that is truly unique! I could never live in a house that did not have a verandah and I like this ‘windbreak’ idea!

  6. This is lovely. I can imagine sitting out with a nice pot of tea beside me.

  7. The enclosure is beautiful as it keeps the same style of the house – style and practicality work well here. Especially during a stout northerly winter wind. Nice!
