One year ago, Nathan Phillips Square in front of Toronto’s City Hall was covered with people and chalk messages honouring the recently departed Jack Layton. According to some, “the best Prime Minister we never had”. He had only months previous led his party to an historic win as opposition in a federal election.
Participating in signs, signs
great participation in thanks, instead of the usual protest!
Nicely composed photo with lots to see.
people getting together to express “thanks” is a wonderful gesture.
It’s nice (and reassuring) to see people expressing honor and respect.
My SIGN.
There is to be an event there today to honour the 1st anniversary of his death.
Great to see a thank you sign instead of a selling one in such a prominent position! That looks like a huge gathering of people in honour of the man!
As leader of the NDP, Jack impressed a lot people.
A nice memorial for this well-loved man. I am going to have to see his bust at the necropolis.
It’s nice to see thank yous instead of the terrible political commercials going on now in the States!
I bet there are lots of people there now for the anniversary memorial. I understand the chalk messages are reappearing.
Jack deserved all this love and recognition. He was a very special person whether you agreed with his politics or not. I’m glad his wife Olivia can see how much he was admired.
beautiful and powerful photo
Great photo. Love all the orange it makes the people stand out more.
A nice tribute.
Seems like he was a wonderful person as well as a great statesman. I am ashamed at how little I know about Canadian politics and current events.
The picture is wonderful.
