This mural in the east end Toronto neighbourhood of Leslieville celebrates Alexander Muir, who composed of The Maple Leaf Forever in 1867. There are many who still feel this should be our national anthem. It is said that Muir was inspired when a brilliant maple leaf fell on his jacket from a Leslieville tree. That tree is still standing today and has become a famous landmark in the community.

Beautiful mural and interesting history about the sign and the song. Do you feel like they spelled Leslie wrong? That it should be Lesleyville?. Thanks for Signs Signs!
