The weather beacon atop the Canada Life building has been showing weather predictions for 60 years. It is updated four times a day. In this case, the white lights running down indicate that temperatures are falling.

I tried to post this earlier; ;hope they don’t both show up! I really like this tower; I would want to check it several times a day. More pleasant to look at than the Weather Channel too!
don’t know why your comments went into spam…
it is nice to look up and see the changing lights.
I bet those white lights are kept busy!
Super photo. I’ve never seen weather-forecasting done that way before, I think I like it!

That is really awesome! Haven’t seen a weather beacon like that before! I love it! And a terrific capture! Hope the lights start moving upward and upward soon! Have a great week, Lesley!

that’s pretty neat. never seen one like this. thanks for sharing.
marvelous composition!
First thing that enter mind was that thing has been there for most of my life. Then after reading it’s been there 60 years I realized I have a few years on it. Interesting capture with the fairly young CN Tower:)
the CN Tower will be 35 y/o this year. Both the beacon and the tower have been knocked off their ‘tallest free standing structure’ pedestal. The beacon lost that status in 1962.
[…] DMC-TZ3 For Doors Open last May, we had a rare treat and were granted entrance to the 15th floor observation room of the Canada Life Building. It has been closed for several years, but used to be visited by the staff to get unparalleled views of the city. Here we see the CN Tower reflected in the marble floor. [see also this post] […]
