The Thomas B McQuesten High Level Bridge is one of the more beautiful bridges in this area of Hamilton/Burlington. More commonly known as the York Blvd bridge this was built in the 1920s and 1930s and renamed after the Minister of Highways who actively promoted scenic parkways and highways. The bridge was built using bits of the three winning submissions and was seriously diminished in scale and opulence due to finances.

  1. Hi Lesley,

If you go to Windsor, please snap a photo of the Ambassador Bridge. I used to sit in my hostel room and look at the trucks taking the cars across to Detroit.

  2. Thanks for passing by my blog while I´m travelling. Your are so kind 🙂

  5. I don’t believe I have ever crossed that bridge. 🙂

  6. What a beautiful bridge! I love the curve of the streetlights leading down the bridge. So inviting….

  7. Nice art deco feel to this bridge.

  8. «Louis» is late making his rounds…

This has that Art Deco elegance lacking in modern structures.
