This looks, to me, more like the entrance to a subway, or train station than a shopping mall. The Hopedale Mall has been recently refurbished and rebranded as the South Oakville Centre. There seems to be a bit of a mishmash of styles with the old red brick and the new stone work that flanks the doors.  Then there are the squares which don’t quite jibe with the mosaic. I’m not sure why they had a name change.

  1. It seems to be such a constant thing – but so many things are re-branded to try to say “we’re new – we’re different!”, which seems to contradict the styles here. From a decade past it looks like – hopefully the shoppers are not too jaded and will keep on shopping there…My preference is for more cohesive design elements though…

  2. That is quite a mixture! The blue pattern looks like a Formica tabletop from the 1950’s.
