I wish I’d been more familiar with Louise Penny and her books when I saw this sign announcing a talk with the Chief of Police (Waterloo Region). One of her books, Still Life, has been made into a movie and was shown on CBC last Sunday night. I wasn’t as absorbed with the movie as I’d hoped to be, but I have  been to the library to find at least one of her books.

  1. I’ve read all her books and would love to hear her…probablyl can’t make it up there in two days though ;>)

Her series really should be read in order. Hope you got the first one.

  2. I hope you like the book!

  3. I’m wondering what calendar the library is using? My calendar does not have a Tues., Sept. 20.

  4. That’s right. Sept 20 this year is Friday not Tuesday 🙂

  5. Should be an interesting talk. Is the Police Chief bringing a law-and-order perspective?

  6. Good chat sign.

  7. It’s always fun to meet the “artisit” in person!

  8. It’s great to hear the inside story of a writer’s work and perspective. An interesting sign.

  9. I wonder if the Chief gave her some ideas?

  10. I will have to look her up…have never heard of her before. Maybe you will be pleasantly surprised. Sometimes the movies just do not capture a book. A few years ago, they did a movie of the book Follow the River by James Alexander Thonm…the movie did not hold a candle to the book.

  11. Just looked her up on Amazon…all her books get 4 stars at least….or a little above.
