Two homes in the Beach neighbourhood of Toronto which look directly onto Lake Ontario at Kew Beach. One shows a more traditional  cottage style with blue clapboard style siding and small paned windows, while next door is a much more contemporary style with large single panes of glass on both storeys. The house on the left with its south-facing floor to ceiling windows definitely needs the blind that is shown in the upper room. And lots of air-conditioning to keep its owners cool in the summer.

  1. I wonder if they realised how hot those windows would make that room. However maybe I would put up with that for a spectacular view.

  2. Those are both wonderful, how quirky to have them next door to each other like that 🙂

  3. I really like both houses, each style far different yet both having the items that waterside homes need: lots of big windows to capture the lakeside views. The sun may be oppressive in the summer, but even a cold winter’s day will feel nice and toasty with all that sun. Lovely homes in a spectacular setting!

  4. Such strange neighbors! I definitely like the traditional better, but bet if I saw the other in person, I would like it more than I do now.

  5. That is an interesting contrast in styles. You see a lot of that here in Long Beach, California also. It always makes for a good photowalk.
