A new white picket fence nicely surrounds this property on King St., though I am not sure when this hitch was last used. Unlike many of the rural Friday Fence posters, we do not have horses wandering the streets of Oakville. We don’t even have a mounted police force.

  1. I like how the old hitching post was retained. Nice gate, too!

  2. love the horse – neat fence – very tidy & well kept. ( :

  3. My first thought was I wondered when it had been used..

  4. For decorative purposes the hitching post adds a bit of old-fashioned charm to the scene.

  5. What I can see of the house looks charming, and I love the picket fence! The hitching post, whether authentically old or a new reproduction, adds a wonderful touch. Looks like it belongs there, and who knows – maybe someday a horse will put it to good use. 🙂

  6. But it’s very lovely as a decorative item! We saw similar posts in New Orleans and other southern cities where I don’t think they’re really used any more either.

  7. The hitching post really adds to the charm or the fence

  8. Another lovely picket fence. They are all the go this week. This one looks very solid and beautifully made.
