Is there a more visible sign that is not neon? R J Black’s Veterinary Hospital has been at this site near Queen and Carlaw in the Leslieville neighbourhood since 1911, though before that it was a residence. Unfortunately it is not listed as a heritage building, but after 100 years in service perhaps it is destined to be in business for a long time still.

Lovely building, too.
I know this place. It does stand out!
I assume Dr. RJ Black is no longer living? The letters are HUGE. No mistaking what this building is!
How interesting. A black building for Dr. Black.
Very cool. I bet when they started they served al of of the dairies & bakeries that used horses for deliveries. That is so old!
you may be right about the horses. it would explain the double doors.
Wow it’s a great building — and I can’t believe it wouldn’t be on the heritage list. Must be lovely old buildings to spare there.
what a charming facade.

Impressive facade and love the arched design of the sign!
wow, this is a cool veterinary hospital! the facade is impressive…it gives out the impression of competence.:p
Great building.
What a great architectural building.
Very cool! I’ve never noticed this building, but I hope it does get historical status one of these days. It would be a shame to lose it.
