Reflections from the new Ottawa Convention Centre, dubbed a glass spaceship on the Rideau Canal. There are 1,036 triangular panes of glass on the west side facade, held into place within a free-form system of steel tubes of which no two are alike.

  1. This is really fantastic! I love when cities mix old and new. I better get up to Ottowa before it’s too cold.

  2. Wow ! Very nice angle of picture, and the reflection with that castle in the background is completly surrealistic !

  3. What a terrific reflection for the day, Lesley! I, too, love the mixture of old and new! Really superb composition! I would love to be able to visit Canada again, I haven’t been in years! Hope you have a great weekend!

  4. What a great close up of this strange looking building. A nice modern addition to Ottawa’s skyline!
And ‘Tsuki, I do believe that is Chateau Laurier in the background.

  5. This is a very beautiful and unusual photo! The building reflected in the glass construction looks like a castle. Have a great weekend!

  6. An incredible shot Lesley! So artsy:)

  7. A dramatic feeling that this particular reality in reflection is tipping over and maybe crashing into reality! Great photo!

  8. Well done, Lesley! I like your composition. Lucky you to get the glass so clean to capture a clear reflection of the Chateau Laurier.

[I’m not aware that non-Hindus are denied entry to the temple. I’ve been in many temples, Hindu and Buddhist, but fewer Muslim mosques (which have more restrictions on non-believers). Unfortunately, the temple in my post is near the airport and we were on our way out, so we stopped for only a short while. The temple grounds are huge and we never got into the buildings. We did, however, witness an open burial rite. It’s a place I’d like to return to… amazingly powerful.]

  9. 1,036?! Fantastic! Well spotted reflections.

  10. That’ spectacular artifact. Thanks for the description 🙂

  11. […] The Ottawa Convention Centre in the pouring rain on a Sunday morning. There is another photo of this, on an equally grey day, which you can see here. […]
