Twilight over the former Kingston Women’s Prison building, a maximum security prison. A fine example of the Edwardian Classic style, this federal prison was built between 1924-1934 with the help of men’s labour gangs from the Kingston Penitentiary (which is located down the street). It was closed in 1995-2000 and the women were gradually dispersed to other federal prisons. I believe it is now owned by the university

If I didn’t read the post I would say it’s a huge school!! Well for a prison building this is huge. ^_^

Good capture of an interesting building!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
the sky is so beautiful and an interesting building.
Moody skies just might reflect the inmates moods! Interesting building for a prison! Terrific capture for the day, Lesley! Hope you have a wonderful weekend! Enjoy!

such a beautiful building for a prison. the moody sky is wonderful.
That is a very imposing building which once had a very serious purpose, I hope the future will have purpose for it too!
Wonderful capture!
Very beautiful building especially to be built as a women’s prison. A gray, threatening sky, but still beautiful. Mickie 🙂
A nice building for a prison.
Hmmmmm, too bad that the building isn’t being used…do hope the university makes use of it somehow.
Love the lighting in this photo…makes it so very dramatic.
My post for today: Fact or Fiction…you decide.
