Welcome to Stratford, a small town in southwestern Ontario. It was named after Stratford upon Avon in England and boasts its own Avon River and Shakespeare Festival. With a population of 30,000 within its 25 km2 (9 sq mi), it is not quite the “smallest town in the world” as young Justin Bieber once  intoned. This painted crest on the side of a building on Ontario St has a ‘trillium’ for the provincial flower and a ‘CA’ for the Famme & Co company of chartered accountants.

Participating in Blue Monday (though this may be more turquoise than blue?)

  1. What a cool find. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a trillium outside of literature – real or painted.

My photography is available for purchase – visit Around the Island Photography and bring home something beautiful today!

  2. Turquoise is a shade of blue!

I wish you a Happy Blue Monday and a Happy 2011, Lesley.

  3. Love this shade of blue. Great capture!
    Blue Monday

  4. It is blue enough! I’d love to attend the Shakespeare festival there. (More do-able than the original S-o-A for us.)

Happy New Year, thanks for your lovely blog !

  5. Leslie,
This is such a great shot. I love that blue tone to it. I have a thing for signs painted on old buildings, too. Signs would be a good one for a meme. As I say that, I realize that there has to be one! In any event, I will post my San Francisco photo, one of these days!

  6. […] The setting sun can be seen through the tower of the Perth County Courthouse at the end of Ontario St in Stratford. This view is later in the day and just beyond the sign seen in this post. […]

  7. Thank you for the visit to lovely Stratford!
