Some original cottages are still left on this dead end road at The Narrows where Lake Simcoe meets Lake Couchiching in Orillia. Most of the other cottages have been bought up and replaced with monster homes. The neighbourhood has certainly changed since these were built in the late 1940s.

only a fresh coat of painting would make that other one very attractive.
I like the early unpretentious seaside homes. Were they just summer holiday homes?
It is lovely to live near a lake. I think the old style homes are very nice.
These would not be winterized and therefore just summer homes.
A very beautifully composed image. 🙂
Sometimes it’s hard to love progress! Very nice picture and bit of history; thanks for sharing.
looks like a quiet neighborhood.:p
a few renovations would liven up this place.
I wouldn’t call monster homes a change for the better, either.
Sigh.

I like the simplicity of these dwellings. They look cozy and inviting. I love just about everything Canadian, though. I love Canada and have spent some very good times in Montreal and in Nova Scotia.
