The old DeLuxe Restaurant in Dundas sat exactly as it was, as a ‘time capsule of memories’ after  Mrs Wong locked the doors when her husband died in 1977.  After her death in 2004, the diner was used as a movie set, but mostly it just confused the tourists who peered through the windows and wondered… Then last July, under cloudy skies, the new owner held a well attended auction of everything in the diner (including the unopened ginger ale bottles) and later reopened as a Thai restaurant. Come back tomorrow for the new look.

  1. Interesting history! Looks like there were moody skies in attendance! Terrific shot, Lesley! Hope you have a great weekend!

  2. Fascinating. It would have been interesting to see what was in that auction, stuff left untouched for almost 30 years!

  3. Lesley, thank you for comment. Interesting photo and that along with old buildings and abandoned homes always intrigue as I love architecture and old things. Perhaps it is the mystery of it all.

  4. I recognize that sign! I was at the auction, and was tempted to buy some of their old dishes. Haven’t tried the new resto yet.
@Al – it was fascinating what was stil there. you could even have bought hundreds of old paper placemats with old advertising on them!
